This officiant course was created by Dudeists for Dudeists. As the “shipping dude,” the Reverend Gary M Silvia has been answering your officiating questions for a number of years. The dude behind the scenes Reverend Gary has worked for Dudeism since 2015. He has also written articles to help Dudeists navigate planning and performing their dude-ties as an officiant. Reverend Gary took what he learned researching answers to your questions and his own personal experience as an officiant, and published The Incomplete Dudeist Priest’s Handbook in 2021. Now, in association with Oliver Benjamin and Dudeism, we’re pleased to present the Dudeist Wedding Officiant Course.

EARN YOUR DEGREE IN MATRIMONIAL SCIENCE
Completing the course and passing the test means you have met the minimum for a degree in Matrimonial Science from us. We offer this course as a Dudeist wedding officiant for many reasons. One being to help people engaging Dudeists to perform their marriage to take it easy. They can relax and focus on other things because they will know their wedding officiant has a decent understanding of wedding ceremonies, and more.
With more and more weddings being solemnized by Dudeists every year we felt there was a real need to give our ministers the tools they need to go forth and help folks get hitched. We wanted to provide a way to verify a Dude’s officiating credentials, all while not taking ourselves too seriously.
All ordained Dudeists are welcome to take the test and get certified whether they are planning to perform a wedding imminently or not. The course is meant to bring a Dudeist perspective and sensibilities to an institution that has seen many profound changes. We feel that solemnizing weddings is something Dudeist priests are particularly well suited for, and the more Dudeists ready to perform this public service the better.
HOW IT WORKS
Review the Course Materials. The course itself is completely free, return to it any time you need to. This course is meant to help anyone solemnizing weddings. The important points will be highlighted to help you prepare for the certification test.
Take the Test. Accreditation depends on you passing the associated 16 question test. We will prepare you with all you will need to know to be an achiever. We will maintain your information in our database for verification purposes. In the future we hope to publish a registry of certified Dudeists.
Collect Your Diploma. Once you have completed the test you will receive an email with a printable degree and invitation to visit our Officiant Store where you can order a fancy certificate embossed with our seal and/or wallet sized Wedding Officiant card you can carry with you.
